About Mrs. McCoy

Welcome to my site.  I hope you find it helpful, useful, and entertaining.  Here is a little bit about me…

      I love learning about and teaching history.   Knowing our history makes the world more meaningful, and it shows us why we are the way we are. 

     On a personal note, I have been married for nine years and have two boys, ages 6 and 4.  I graduated from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington in 2000 and taught for two years at Hirsch Metro High School in Chicago, Illinois.  I then moved to Arizona where I taught 1 year of 8th grade social studies at Casa Grande Middle School and this is my third year teaching here at Deer Valley.     

    At school I also coach the boys volleyball team as well as the Varsity Boys Volleyball team at Barry Goldwater.   I have really enjoyed my experiences coaching and hope to keep doing it for many years to come.
