Progress Reports on Thursday

I was really sick on Monday evening and was therefore unable to get progress reports ready for Tuesday.  As we are having a half day on Wednesday, progress reports will go home on Thursday.

Geo Bee 2008-09

I am taking over the Geo Bee this year, so for those of you interested in competing in the school wide competition this year and possibly advancing to the state competition in January, come by my room (302) on Wednesday, October 15 after school for a qualifying exam.  There will be 25 questions and should take you no longer than 30 minutes. 

Those who qualify will meet with me once a week on Thursdays starting in November and going until the first week of January.  The school wide competition is January 8, 2009.

The top 10 finishers in the school wide competition will spend the day with me and another staff member to attend the state wide competition at ASU in April.

I am looking forward to a fun and rewarding experience with the Geo Bee!

Out Sick

Hello Everybody, Just wanted to let all the parents know that I was indeed out sick for about 2 1/2 days this week and as a result we will be doing a little bit of catch-up work next week.  All is well with me, now that I am on antibiotics for a bout of tonsillitis…guess I talk too much 🙂 

6th hour progress reports are finally going home today!  Because of my days out and distractions in catching up yesterday they have been put off until today.  So sorry for the delay, and thanks for your understanding.

Off to a Roaring Start

What a great starting week!  I am teaching 5 US History classes, 2 of which are Pre-AP and all are off to a great start.  We have worked this week and defining the needs of civilization, the qualities and examples of great leaders in our history, and the students are creating their own personal insignias; a visual representation or symbol that reflects what is important to them.  They are looking really great!

Today, the students all received their 3 ring binder to be used in my class.  The binders were provided to us with funds from a grant with the intent that better organization leads to higher success.
